Dr. Lichuan Gui received his doctoral degree in engineering at the University of Essen in Germany in 1997. He experienced in flow field measurements in multiphase flow tank, ship model towing tank, micro-scale channel, high-speed air jet, micro-scale air jet and air flow around flying insects with advanced techniques. He developed several new algorithms and methods to improve accuracy and capability of particle image velocimetry (PIV) systems. He developed a software package, i.e. EDPIV, for processing digital recordings of standard PIV, micro-scale PIV and stereo-PIV systems, which is used world-wide by researchers and students. He also succeeded in using a single high-speed imaging system to map 3-D insect alate wing movements and using two high-speed cameras to track 3D motion of aerodynamic models in wind tunnel . |
